VETiS Workplacement Changes

VET in Schools :

Changes to Workplacement Arrangements

At the end of 2009, the Australian Federal Government made changes in their funding allocations for supporting young people in their access to Workplacement arrangements.

Funding was distributed directly to States and Territory for allocation under the On-the-Job-Training Funding.  The Northern Territory Government’s Department of Education and Training made the decision to use this funding by initially funding schools with the short-term appointment of a Relationships Officer for Term 4, 2009; to assist in establishing the procedures for Workplacement arrangements within school for 2010.  Whilst during this period YouthWorX NT was still funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations; through the Local Community Partnerships initiative to arrange Workplacements for VETiS students.

In 2010, the Northern Territory Government’s approach is continuing to be overseen by the Department of Education and Training’s VET in Schools Division.  We look forward to the Department of Education and Training announcing the new arrangements for On-the-Job-Training in the near future.

As the Department of Education, Employment and Workplacement Relations Local Community Partnerships initiative ceased on 31 December 2009; YouthWorX NT will not be affiliated with the Workplacement Arrangements for VET in Schools students from 2010.

The Team @ YouthWorX NT we would like to express a huge thank you for your support and efforts with the Workplacement Arrangements of your VETiS students over the past few years.  We look forward to the opportunity of working with you in other capacities to assist young people in their transition from school to further education, training or employment.

YouthWorX NT’s affiliation with Group Training NT and the Department of Education and Training will see a continued delivery of Workplacement Arrangements for Workready students enrolled into the 9 Workready partner schools within the Darwin, Palmerston and Rural areas.
