School Business Community Partnership Brokers Program

Between 2006 and 2009 YouthWorX NT was affiliated with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Career Advice Australia – Local Community Partnership initiative, as well as delivered a diversity of other service contracts focused towards supporting Territorian youth.

Throughout this period we worked with students and schools, business and industry, youth service providers and community groups throughout Darwin and Tiwi Islands; Palmerston, East Arm and Finniss; Daly River and East Arnhem to assist students in their transition through school and from school into further education, training and employment; which included the facilitation of such programmes as:

The Local Community Partnerships initiative ceased on 31 December 2009, and has been replaced with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations – School Business Community Partnership Brokers Program (Partnership Brokers).

Partnership Brokers will broker sustainable partnerships between schools, business, community groups and parents to improve education outcomes. Partnership Brokers will work with stakeholder groups to foster a strategic, whole of community approach that supports young people to stay engaged in education and realise their full social and economic potential.

A national network of Partnership Brokers will support the Council of Australian Governments’ (COAG) reform agenda to ensure all students benefit from schooling through strategies based on high expectations of attainment, engagement and transitions for every student, especially in disadvantaged school communities.

YouthWorX NT has been contracted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations to facilitate the delivery of the Partnership Brokers within the Arnhem and Victoria-Daly, Katherine and Roper Gulf regions.
