VET Program

Location

Businesses from different industries volunteer as Host Employers. They dedicate their time and skills to helping young people gain hands on experience in the field they are studying towards. We can not commend these businesses enough for the valuable contribution that they give to so many students.

Our main aim at YouthWorX NT is to match each student with a suitable Host Employer to ensure that they can achieve their training outcomes in a healthy, friendly and safe environment.

Your child will…

  • Experience an industry first hand, it may not be exactly what they imagined it to be – or it could be better!
  • Meet and make a good impression on people who do the “hiring & firing” where they may want to apply for a job in the not to distant future.
  • Develop “Employability” skills, punctuality, communication and teamwork & work ethic.
  • Build their confidence and communication skills through learning in an adult environment.
  • Be better prepared to seek employment.
  • Expand their awareness of career options.
  • Gain credits into traineeships, apprenticeships or higher VET Certificate courses.
  • Test career choices prior to leaving school.
  • Put themselves out there – many students are offered part time or full time work by their Workplacement Host Employer, or go on to do Traineeships or Apprenticeships with them. They have to meet first
