The Workplacement Process |
| Preparation, planning and communication are the secret behind successful Workplacements. |
|
Pre-Workplacement Interview/ orientation |
| Host Employers have the option to request to interview students prior to Workplacement or to set an orientation day where the student is introduced to their Workplace. |
| |
Illness, Absence, Cancellation or Withdrawal |
| Ensure YouthWorX is informed immediately of any student illness, absence, course withdrawal or other problems that may prevent the student from attending Workplacement. |
Contact with Employers |
| All telephone calls, visits and other contact with Host Employers are to be negotiated with YouthWorX NT. This is vital as Host Employers will stop providing placements if they are overwhelmed with calls and visits and feel that the system is disorganised. |
Work Readiness |
Students applying for Workplacement must be assessed as “Work Ready” by their VET Trainer. Sending a student out on Workplacement before they are ready can be damaging for both the students confidence and the Host Employers confidence in VET programs. DEET provides a Work Readiness Checklist for this purpose.
Work Ready Checklist ... |

| knows what he/she is expected to learn or demonstrate |
| knows what will be assessed in the workplace and how |
| knows how to complete the student Training Record Book |

|
Apply for Workplacement |
There are 2 ways you can apply for a Workplacement;
- Complete a Workplacement Application form online; or
- Print the “Print Friendly” Workplacement Application form below, fill it out and give it to your VET Trainer who will fax it to YouthWorX NT.
|
|
Workplacement Time Sheet |
Students must lodge a completed Time Sheet with their RTO on completion of their Workplacement. RTO's are then required to submit a summary of completed Workplacement hours to DEET. (Please refer to DEET Procedures for VETiS Coordination, Section 3.6)
