What are Workplacements?

Structured Workplacements (referred to as Workplacements) are the on-the-job training component of Vocational Education & Training (VET) programs available through your school.
"I think the Workplacement is a great opportunity to be introduced to a workplace of choice. The salon I worked in had a friendly and exciting atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed it!"
Elyse Childs
VET Hairdressing Student

You will spend 5 to 10 days on Workplacement with a Host Employer, depending on your course. Most students will do 2 or 4 Workplacements a year with one or more Host Employers.

Workplacements give you the chance to perform hands on tasks in the workplace that are related to competencies in your VET Course. Workplacements focus on linking your knowledge and skills with real workplace situations.

It is different from work experience! Instead of just observing what goes on, you will practice and develop skills related to the competencies in your VET course.

Candice

"I got the Automotive Apprenticeship I wanted with Kerry Holden after doing my Workplacement with them, so it's been fantastic for me - and hopefully for them too!."
